Why I'm Running
It has been my privilege and honor to serve the Brookings community on the City Council since May 2017. Throughout this time I have been inspired by the resilience and unity of our community.
I am deeply committed to the future of our city and the well-being of its people. My husband and I feel incredibly fortunate to raise our children here, and I would appreciate your support as I continue to give back to this community that has given so much to me. Together, we can make Brookings a place that sets the standard for the rest of the world to follow.

Qualification and Experience
  • I am a current City Council Member. I've served on City Council since May 2017. I bring the perspective of being a professional in the non-profit sector, a mother, and a critical thinker.
  • I am dedicated to serving others. I am currently on the Board of the Domestic Abuse Shelter, and over the years I have served on several committees and in various volunteer roles. Investing my time in my community is at the core of who I am.
  • I have strong roots in our community.  I am a fourth generation Brookings county resident and a proud graduate of Brookings High School and South Dakota State University. My family has chosen Brookings as the perfect spot to be involved in a thriving community.
  • I have professional experience helping others to engage in the decision-making process.  I worked as a Community Organizer in Brookings for 8 years helping citizens engage in local and state government, working toward a stronger local food system, and teaching others how to be leaders in their communities.
  • I have experience working collaboratively. I have served on local, statewide, and regional planning committees to organize events and implement policy change. I enjoy finding common ground with others and collaboratively developing solutions that have meaningful impact.
